The tour of Diauhtla begins with us learning about its customs. Before this was a bustling vacation town, it was a hunter's outpost. Wreaths decorated with owl feathers and fox fur were a heartfelt gift back in the day. Because of how dangerous the wildlife was, the present signified that you wanted to protect the giftee. Part of the fun in crafting is getting the materials. You'll find foxes and owls all over the place!
The wildlife isn't so dangerous anymore. Vacationers began feeding them, and even took them home as pets! It turned the beasts into glorified seagulls and raccoons digging through the trash. I'll need to speak to the mayor about new bylaws. Thank you for getting the materials, and thank you to Alina too! Even with a sprained wrist, she handled the beasts expertly. As expected of the woman who helped take down the silver lion!

Hanging up lights, ornaments, and wreaths is an essential Frostval activity. Usually, I provide guests with my own decorations but the wreaths you and Alina made are beautiful! May I have the honor of hanging them on the walls of the inn? And with how many you made, we can share them with the townspeople. If you head east, you'll find Lief the Cafe owner. He loves chatting and he'll love your wreaths!
The Inn looks lovely! Thank you oh so much for the wreaths. I bet Lief loves them too. Haha, he makes the perfect cappuccino, but will talk your ear off while his hands are busy. Alina and Rolith were there the other day, and he wouldn't let them have time alone. Kept gossiping about Rolith racing for the Oaklore team last year, and Battleon's this year. How did I know that? Oh, I was nearby and my eyes lingered for a while.

Oof, Rolith and his team are still having trouble with fixing his sled. Last I saw, his horses were galloping around the starting line. The Tundra Steeds aren't usually this ornery but they might be holding the sled crash against him. Poor Rolith always keeps his chin up when his whole team is neck deep in trouble. I think he would appreciate us rounding up his horses, and you'll get to see the view of the mountain range!
*Flips through tour notes* Ahem! Like most of the nearby wildlife, Tundra Steeds used to roam the Northlands but have since become accustomed to people. They're strong and surprisingly nimble, able to navigate the mountains under nightfall. That makes them essential to any sled racing team. Thankfully, Battleon's Steeds just needed a few head-pats from Alina to convince them to return. Could I get one? Kidding! Just kidding!

Oh dear, the foxes are starting up trouble again. They're mischievous little fellows, stealing the wood planks Rolith's team needs to rebuild their sled. They just want to play, or to exchange the DIY supplies for some snacks. Here, I boiled a carton of eggs. Playfight with the foxes for long enough, and they'll accept the trade. Hmm, maybe I should offer this sort of experience to other visitors.
The foxes are lucky they're so cute! The audacity of rolling over for belly rubs after we paid an egg ransom for the stolen supplies. Hmm? You and Alina are curious about the eggs? We also serve them for breakfast at the inn. They're larger and more spherical than your average chicken egg. With a thicker shell, their shelf life is longer too. That really helps the locals since they have to import eggs from farms down South.

The racers are ready to go, and participants would like you to have the honor of lighting their torches. Those torches are able to burn so bright and be seen from the top of the mountain because they're fueled by owl feathers. We found out how flammable they were the hard way when a member of my staff got a candle too close to a wreath. So collect feathers, light the torches, and I'll be on the sidelines watching you send the racers off.
And they're off! The sled racers are especially motivated after the ceremony, and I'll have the chefs cook a meal to enjoy on our rooftop restaurant. You'll be able to see the torchlights on the mountain from up there! But there's still time before the moon comes out. Ingrid can be abrasive but she gave me tips when I foraged for herbs on my own. If you don't mind a small favor on your sight-seeing walk, I'd like to repay her.
