Wandering Ayakashi Slayer
Where I come from, the people aren't allowed to engage with Yokai this directly. They were always distant creatures, hiding just out of sight. If you weren't a warrior, the most you'd see is the aftermath. Piles of bones, splotches of blood, husks, or the whistling wind in an empty home. Are the people here braver, or are the Yokai less monstrous? Hmm? Apologies. I must have been musing out loud.

Ronin
I suppose you could call me a ronin - a warrior without a Lord - but I'm not looking to swear loyalty to anyone. I'm not looking to spill blood for sport either. Knowledge, a widening of the horizon, is what I seek. Was there no need to explain that? Then the samurai of the Yokai Isles conduct themselves well. Where I'm from, you could be cut down for looking the wrong way, or catching a ronin when they were bored.

Yokai
Ayakashi is an archaic way of referring to Yokai. Based on my experience, it's reserved for the more dangerous and unknown of them. The gods of that Shrine and Temple can be considered Ayakashi, even if they don't eat humans. I hunt them to keep our kind safe. Here, they seem more peaceful. I won't raise my blade, but I'll continue to be wary. Their moods can change in an instant, and whole villages can become graveyards.

Misfit
What have I done to be called a misfit? Ah. You meant that my helmet doesn't look like it fits my head. Yes, it does slide around, and it folds my ears in an uncomfortable manner. It's the same with my armor, so I'm unable to sit down. If I were to wear equipment that actually fit, it would garner far too much attention. I was expelled from my home for this reason, and came here on a journey of self-reflection.
