Virgil's Quests

The vanguard consists of the Limbo Guards, soldiers and warriors who had perished before there was any real structure to the Underworld. With no purpose in their unlives, they offer their services to guard the entrance of the Seven Circles. They won't be the strongest enemy you face here, but don't take them lightly.

It appears that the Guards of Luxuria have fallen under their spell. All those that come in contact with Luxuria must have a strong will to overcome the urges that they breed. Whether it be a lust for power, happiness, or pleasure, they control it all. Those urges are like the wind that emanates from this circle. The urges may start as a gentle breeze, nice and pleasant, but can quickly turn into an overwhelming gale, tossing you off your intended path. Free these Guards from this wind, and grant them peace.

Luxuria's winds are too strong for us to move forward. But the Guards aren't being blown away… They must possess certain auras that allow them to move freely. Looks like we will need to gain possession of these auras as well. The Limbo Guards seem to have an Aura of Power, the Luxuria Guards have an Aura of Pleasure, and both types of Guards have a faint Aura of Happiness. If we collect enough of each of them, it should be enough to get past these winds.

You have seen what Luxuria can do to those who are not fully aware of their strength. Do not underestimate them. Keep your guard up while you will come out victorious. Stay strong, Hero.

The Guard of Gluttony is unlike any other guard in the Circles. It can not be defeated with just normal combat. You must also outsmart the creature, otherwise it will never stop hunting its prey down. I have a plan, however. Collect three large piles of mud from this Circle. I'll explain later.

I have filled the Guard's mouth with the mud you collected. That should hinder it enough that once you defeat it, it will no longer pursue us. You must defeat it quickly before it is able to spit all of the mud out.

Gluttony is just up ahead. Be careful. He will not take kindly to visitors. He will attempt to exploit your urge to indulge in the fight and you will feel like you want it to last forever. Do not overindulge in your combat and end the fight quickly. There is no need to face him longer than required, regardless of what he may make you believe.

You have made it to the last Circle of this section of the prison. Avarice resides here, and conquering him will be no easy task. First, we will have to take care of his Guards. Show them the strength you have shown all of their comrades that came before them.

I can see Avarice's spell starting to take hold of you. We must lessen its effects before you face him. Take the spell's effects on you out on the Guards here. Fighting each type of Guard should satisfy the urge for now. Once you are done, then you should face Avarice immediately.

Avarice will be the most deadly in combat that you have faced so far. He will trick you into getting greedy with your strikes, thinking you can get a few more in before you must go on the defensive. Do not let him fool you. Trust your initial instincts, and treat it like a normal fight. If you strike one too many, you will find yourself quickly defeated while your guard is down.

While the first few Circles have been defeated, their essence still lingers in the area, threatening to damage the seals. Go clear up the area once more, and then we can proceed more assuredly.

The Guards of Wrath are merciless in their assault. They do not tire, they do not feel pain. You will have to defeat many of them in order to get to Wrath himself.

Wrath will make you lose yourself in the fight, lose your humanity. Do not let it overtake you. Keep yourself calm and you will survive this fight. Good luck, Hero.

These Guards have been corrupted by both Wrath and Violence. The Guards of Heresy are usually quite peaceful, but being tainted by both inmates have made them the most dangerous Guards yet. Be careful, Hero.

This Minotaur was specially created to attack any intruder on sight with great ferocity. Unfortunately, you will be on the receiving end of that ferocity, rather than the inmates' liberators. You won't have any sinful influences to worry about this time, only the creature's unnatural strength.

The Guards of Violence have always been a rowdy bunch, if you ask me. The only difference from how they acted before is their now malicious nature. Take them out so that we can leave this Circle.

Geryon is a monster that destroys in a different way. It causes those around it to have hidden, nefarious intentions. Villages under its influence crumble by their own hands, not the creature's raw power. Don't be fooled, Hero. The creature is a force of nature in its own right.

This should be the last of inmates before you reach the Beast. Violence. He does not rely on cheap tricks to defeat his opponents. He will continue to strike until he is defeated. I only hope that you are able to vanquish him before he does you.

The Treachery Guards have to be powerful on their own, as they cannot trust one another. This makes that less dangerous in groups. We can use this to our advantage. Take them out, one by one.

This is it, Hero. The final battle. The Beast is still trapped by its original seal. There is still hope. If you weaken it enough. I should be able to restore its seal to full strength and Dage will be free from its influence. We have no other options. Anything less will result in the destruction of Lore.
