Great Dragon of Energy
Volgritian insists on accompanying you, more out of separation anxiety and guilt than anything else. The Great Dragon of Energy navigates the trees better than your party does, and suggests growling so the organic noises of your body can drown out the disorienting whistling of Astrum Argentum.
Thelima
When the City of Thelima came under attack, the golden gates slammed shut, and almost crushed evacuees trying to get through. The tourists had panicked and attacked the guards, forcing them to trap the spreading flames inside. Back in the old days, Volg would have killed them for doing that, but he settled on ramming the doors open. Losing his temper would have caused you even more trouble.
Champion
Aleister, the first Champion of Fire, must be genuinely suffering from amnesia. From the flickers of memories he still has of the distant Planar Conflict, Fiamme's defender was a sobbing mess that would flee over a splinter. Aleister wouldn't even be able to fake bravery the way he was before, and he certainly wouldn't be biting the heads off of squirrels. Volg apologizes in advance to Tara. He also lets Aleister toss squirrels into his mouth.
Injury
This isn't about Volg's injuries. He's the one worried about what happened to you in Thelima. Under the bandages Warlic wrapped around your arms, your flesh still burns. Volgritian can smell those wounds. It's something he had to live with for an untold amount of decades. Volg warns you that they aren't healing as fast as they should. Whoever did this to you shouldn't be faced alone. Lean on him, Tara, and Warlic when the time comes.
Great Dragon of Energy
Roused by your arrival, Volgritian shakes off his drowsiness. He's only able to sleep peacefully in silence and sunlight, but he doesn't want to miss a visit from you. Though Volg, as you've started calling him, isn't ready to speak aloud yet, the two of you are able to communicate through glances alone. You're unsure of how this is possible. Perhaps certain Dragons, or maybe just the Greats, share a deeper connection to you.
Invitation
Volgritian used to bask in attention, whipping up storms that tore the land and sea. One flap of his wings would create a torrent that humans would give legendary names. Now, he gets lightheaded at the idea of even a few eyes on his mutilated form. You're slowly convincing him to at least wriggle out to the edge of Termina Temple to people-watch with you. It's better than being alone.
Lady Celestia
The Great Dragon of Energy doesn't want to be regarded by Dragons or Humans, but you're an exception. He considers you to be both, but views Lady Celestia as neither. Seeing your confusion, Volgritian begins doodling in the ground with his claw- but keeps drawing Lady Celestia too wonky, and erases it to start over. It's still difficult to understand what he means.
Dragonkind
The Greats are the strongest Dragons of their kind. The pride of an entire race. Their admiration was as fleeting as a breeze. When Volgritian was imprisoned in Skye, no one came to save him. As he is now, Volgritian knows he'll be ridiculed. That bothers him more than the real danger of being killed so a new, stronger Dragon can take his place. You, his savior, are one of the few that he can completely trust.
Great Dragon of Energy
When you hopped on a carriage to the Yew Mountain Chain, Volgritian began following from behind. Since he insisted on going with you, the once prideful Dragon will have to put up with being disguised as an extremely scary horse. You soothe Volg's grumbles with a fond pat on his nose. You feel a vibration from his throat. He warns you that this used to be where Akriloth nested in his youth. His fires burn to this day.
Health
Volg admits that it was too early to leave Termina Temple, but he needs to stop wincing at snapping twigs. The sound of his own lightning sent his mind back to that cave, and he can't live like that. The mortification of that aside, Great Dragons have difficulty fathoming being in debt. He thought he'd hate owing his life to another, but Volg wants to help you. It makes him feel like himself.
History
Back when the Greats and Champions killed each other in the name of their Avatar, this was where the First Champion of Fire would retreat. Volg didn't care to learn the man's name because he was always the first to run from a fight. He notices that your interest was piqued by the 'killings.' That was the law of the land back then. The Champions get along well today, but their predecessors were destined to take each other's lives.
Akriloth
When Volgritian heard of Akriloth's demise, he was surprised it didn't happen earlier. While the Greats were prideful as a whole, even they were taken aback by Akriloth's intense disdain for 'lower lifeforms.' The Great Fire Dragon continued his crusade to set Lore aflame, even as the Planar Conflict settled. It's strange. Akriloth's superiority complex was normal until…hm, it's been so long. Volg can't quite pin exactly when the change happened.
