The warrior nods to you in acknowledgement. You notice that he had momentarily let down his guard when you approached. This man recognizes you, and seems to regard you well. Despite that, and the Emissary of Skye attempting to help you get his attention by waving their hand in front of his face, the warrior is unwilling to speak. It doesn't look like you'll be getting anywhere with him.

After completing the 'Abandoned Cradle' quest:

Lord of the Rains
The warrior turns away, unable to look you in the eye. His fists are balled, but it's clear he's not angry at you. If he was brave enough to defy his mother, the Warden of East Skye would knock his accomplice to the ground. The Emissary shakes his head, and lightly laughs at this predicament. It doesn't look like you'll be getting anywhere with the warrior by using words or swords.
