Father is frustrated, which is understandable. Tara was just born, and he hasn't been able to spend any time with her. When we do get to spend time together, the room's always crowded with nobles, and Tara cries her head off from all the noise. At least our days are peaceful, but that's only because the Shadowscythe is occupied with cementing its supremacy over its peers. I fear that I'll begin to miss these tiresome days.

Victoria
Frankly, Victoria's at her breaking point. The nobles get testy whenever either of you train with weapons. She's even taken to pretending to be frail and sickly to get space in her room…and to find opportunities to escape. Do you think we should move her bedroom to a lower floor? Haha, I'm a little jealous of her freedom, but I'm happy where I am. It's just that Victoria will need to sharpen her skills, and that'll be hard without an official mentor.

Rumors
The rumors? Yes, I've heard them- but they aren't any of my business, unless they affect my responsibilities. Father and I talked about them in private. No matter what happens, both of you love us, and that will never change. That fact alone brings me comfort… but Victoria's feelings are just as important. I hope you'll be able to understand each other. She's always idolized you, ever since she was just a little girl…

I wonder how Brentan's doing. His letters mentioned Richard's agitation. Neither of us will say anything so the poor boy won't get in trouble. The circumstances worry Brentan. He wants to be a brother, not a jailer, and especially not an executioner.
