Looks like this second toom is guarded by stone statues. Clever — stone is hard to destroy. But if you can manage to break the statues' stone hearts, then they won't get back up again! This isn't easy to do, so it may take a few tries before you've properly damaged them.

Collect vials of the creepers' acid, and use it to dissolve some of these skulls so that their ghosts can be set free. (You will need to leave the room and come back before using the acid on the skulls!)
